Calendar Girls

Calendar Girls

CALENDAR GIRLS by Tim Firth

This heartwarming and hilarious play by Tim Firth is based on a true story and the hit 2003 film.

When Annie's husband dies of leukemia, she and her best friend Chris decide to raise funds for the local hospital. Despite raised eyebrows from the local community they create a calendar featuring themselves and their friends from the Women's Institute...in tastefully nude poses. As they embark on their fundraising journey over the seasons, the friends discover a newfound sense of confidence and sisterhood, breaking free from societal expectations of middle age. And as the word begins to spread, these Calendar Girls begin to turn heads and capture hearts around the world.

Destined to make you laugh, make you cry and make you blush! CALENDAR GIRLS is a glorious celebration of friendship, community, and the power of ordinary people to make a difference.

The Mill at Sonning is delighted that The George Hatfield Theatrical Arts Foundation is now up and running as a charity. On Tuesday, April 23rd - also St George’s day - we are holding a charity gala of our production of Calendar Girls. The funds raised on this evening will go towards helping the next round of theatrical arts students. On the night of the 23rd you will not only have dinner and see the play, you will also have the opportunity to meet and hear from the 8 students that the charity has most recently helped.

The tickets are the same price as other performances, however The Mill is donating the profits from the evening to the charity. We will also be holding a fun raffle at the event.

Three Men In A Boat

We are delighted to announce that to complete our 2024 season - The Mill will be presenting the hilarious “Three Men In A Boat”.

Jerome K.Jerome’s classic Victorian memoir has been gloriously adapted by celebrated star of stage and screen, CLIVE FRANCIS (The Crown, A Clockwork Orange, Entertaining Mr.Sloane) preserving the timeless humour and infusing it with a fresh and vibrant touch for contemporary audiences.

This warm and witty play invites you on an uproarious journey down the meandering waters of the Thames with the delightful trio of friends Harris, George, and Jerome, as they set sail on an unforgettable adventure through the English countryside (with just a few stops that you might recognise!) Each twist and turn bringing a fresh dose of laughter and unexpected encounters.

So, pack your bags, grab your oars, and prepare to be swept away by the camaraderie, and mischievous antics of this unforgettable trio, as they navigate not just the river's currents but the comical currents of life itself.
