It Runs In The Family

Dr.David Mortimore, renowned neurologist, is about to deliver the most important lecture of his life. A knighthood is certainly within reach! When into his hospital sanctuary comes Jane Tate - ex-nurse and ex-girlfriend - with shocking news as to why she departed so hastily 16 years and nine months ago. Not only is Dr.Mortimore the father of her son Leslie, but the strapping teenager is now in reception baying to see his long lost parent! Trying to hold both his career and marriage together, there is only one solution for Dr. Mortimore - send for the faithful friend Dr.Bonney. What ensues is a dangerous web of expanding lies and manic cover-ups involving a Police Sergeant, Dr.Mortimore’s wife, a severe hospital Matron and Dr.Bonney’s mother. IT RUNS IN THE FAMILY is farce at its finest, spinning deliriously out of control and tickling the funny bones in traditional RAY COONEY fashion. You musn’t miss it!

A Night at the Musicals

The Mill has pledged to do a gala performance concert every St George’s Day for The George Hatfield Theatrical Arts Foundation. Last year we were able to help eight Arts students with a bursary to fund their training. This year four wonderful actors, who are all currently performing in the West End, have offered their services to mount a special Night at The Musicals. The cast includes Adam Linstead (Phantom of The Opera) and Soophia Foroughi (Prince Of Egypt) with more to be announced later on. Their voices are truly sublime and they are accompanied by a three piece band as they work their way through a repertoire of much loved songs from the Musicals we all know and love.

Posting Letters to the Moon

Posting Letters to the Moon

POSTING LETTERS TO THE MOON

A romantic, funny and very touching portrait of life during the second World War featuring readings of letters between Oscar-nominated actress Celia Johnson (Brief Encounter) and her explorer and writer husband Peter Fleming (brother of James Bond creator Ian Fleming) posted to India and the Far East during the war working for Military Intelligence.

Not only are the letters highly engaging, but they also provide a fascinating historical insight into that time of true austerity and fearfulness.

‘... simply spellbinding performance...revealing an abundance of love and affection between ordinary people caught in extraordinary times... a theatrical gem’.  British Theatre Guide.

The letters are read by their daughter Lucy Fleming (Love Sarah, Miranda in The Archers) and her husband Simon Williams (Upstairs Downstairs Justin in The Archers, EastEnders,) and give an insight into a young mother’s life coping during the war and tell of Celia Johnson’s experience of filming with Noel Coward, David Lean and her thoughts while making the classic film Brief Encounter in 1945.

Death Comes to Pemberley

Death Comes to Pemberley

DEATH COMES TO PEMBERLEY

In this WORLD PREMIERE, the idyllic estate of Pemberley, home to Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy from Jane Austen's iconic "Pride and Prejudice" becomes the stage for a chilling mystery, imagined by one of Britain’s finest ever crime novelists, P.D James. The celebrated 'Queen of Crime’ was the creator of much loved detective Adam Dalgleish, featuring in fourteen novels and a TV series.

Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy are happily settled into married life . As preparations are underway for an annual ball, the tranquil atmosphere is shattered by the sudden arrival of Lydia Wickham, Elizabeth's flighty younger sister, who brings with her news of a murder in the nearby woods.

The victim is Captain Denny, an acquaintance from Mr. Darcy's regiment, and suspicion falls upon Wickham, Lydia's husband, whose tumultuous past and strained relationship with Darcy make him an easy target for blame. As the investigation unfolds, secrets long buried begin to surface, casting doubt on the innocence of those closest to Elizabeth and Darcy.

With the help of their loyal friend Colonel Fitzwilliam and the insightful guidance of George Wickham's childhood friend, lawyer Henry Alveston, Elizabeth and Darcy navigate the treacherous waters of rumor and gossip to uncover the truth behind the murder. Along the way, they confront their own vulnerabilities and the complexities of their relationships, testing the strength of their love and the bonds of family.

As the tension mounts and the trial approaches, romance, intrigue, and suspense are weaved together in a riveting tale that pays homage to Jane Austen's beloved characters while offering a fresh and compelling mystery that will captivate you until the final revelation. "Death Comes to Pemberley" is a testament to the enduring power of Austen's world and the timeless appeal of a well-crafted whodunit.

Simply not to be missed!
